En
1580, Nobunaga Oda, grand seigneur de guerre bataille dans tout le
Japon. Celui-ci est en fait un dieu des ténèbres et avec son armée, les
Oboros composés d'une élite de sept ninjas et de Ranmaru, il décide de
décimer les trois clans des Ninjas de l'Ombre. Ceux-ci sont les clans
qui sont à l'origine des ninjas au Japon. Cependant, il ne reste qu'un
survivant dans chacun des clans (Ayame, Sakon et Ryoma). Ils ont hérité
d'une lame enchantée (lance, couteau, katana) qui leur permettront de
terrasser Nobunaga, ils seront aidés d'un moine, Ryoan.
Mais de nombreux obstacles se présenteront à eux, et peu seront les ninjas qui survivront à la suite de cet ère...
